About Us
CAPSEF is an association of private schools which provide quality, cost effective, special education and related services to the special needs children and adolescents (birth-21) of CT who benefit from individualized academic, behavioral, social and vocational programs designed to enable them to succeed in the least restrictive environment.
The association members work in collaboration with families, public schools, caretakers and providers to implement model programs which enhance each student's ability to succeed. CAPSEF provides its members with a VOICE to represent its interests to the State Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education, ConnCASE and other providers, legislative and advocacy groups.
Focus of Association
CAPSEF, a non-profit association, provides a basis for unity and common action to serve the common interests among all private special education facilities, including cost reporting, the state approval process, sate and federal statutes and regulations impacting the private special education community.
Membership Benefits & Services
Periodic mailings / new quarterly newsletter, membership forums on current issues of concern to members; Annual Workday every July for our leadership; annual professional development conference; recognition of outstanding educators; advocacy issues brought to the legislature on behalf of the CAPSEF membership; referral services offered to prospective students families; cost saving benefits, just to name a few.
Membership Procedures & Requirements
Any state approved school/facility in or engaged in providing service to children with disabilities.
